PNP Chief Rommel Francisco D. Marbil
For the longest time, the selection process for the top Philippine National Police (PNP) post centered on popularity, seniority, and patronage.
But not in the case of General Rommel Francisco Marbil, whose name isn’t even part of the supposed shortlist submitted to the President.
In an exclusive interview, Marbil admitted that clinching the top PNP post is something that all police generals, including himself, would wish before capping their tour of duty. He however insisted that his emerging from a list of formidable generals, is more of a miracle than destiny.
A member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1991, Marbil who was then a Major General, “outclassed” some senior PNP officials.
